UGN Automotive Products

UGN, a preferred producer of high quality acoustic, interior trim, and thermal management products, was witnessing narrower margins and desired to be more proactive and forward thinking in its approach to managing cash flow and overall profitability. As a result, the company determined that there was a need to transform UGN into a Value Based Management organization by 2009: this initiative would drive associate knowledge and buy-in of the core elements of the financial value chain across UGN, with the ultimate outcome of increased profitability.

This project was assigned to an Action Learning Team participating in the 2006 UGN University Leadership program (LEAP) where participants engage in “Action Learning Projects,” and present their findings to the executive team for consideration in the company’s overall strategic initiatives. Whole Brain® Thinking and the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI®), are integrated into the LEAP program as a process for approaching every Action Learning Project from a Whole Brain® Thinking perspective, with teams assembled with an intentional balance of both left and right brained thinking preferences.
